Wordy Wednesday: Grandma Filley

Sophia Tuckett (nee Fisher) Window Filley
b. 15th Oct 1838, Devonshire, England
d. 1918, Burlingame, Osage Co, Kansas

m(1) Frederick Haime WINDOW
m(2) Henry W. "H.W." FILLEY

As the caption on the photo says it was made in Iowa City,
Iowa, shortly after Sophia and her three teenage children
arrived in America to join Frederick, she was 41 here.

On Thanksgiving 1889, the by-then Widow Window
wed H.W. Filley, and was thereafter called
"Grandma Filley" by her grandchildren.

Besides being the gr-gr-grandmother of the
friend who possesses the original of this photo,
Sophia is an ancestress of two of my grandchildren.

Happy Birthday, Sophia!

Oh, gorgeous! I love her hair. Is it just me, or does she look great for a 40-year-old mother of three teenagers? :) Happy birthday, Sophia!
