Wordless Wednesday: CUPP Family Portrait

Will & Sarah "Sallie" CUPP and children, circa 1900
My grandmother, Luella May, is the one with the hair bow.

Hope you won't mind that I dusted off my thoughts
last fall on that other Sarah, from Wasilla...

Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Hey Jama, I too go through some wordless days. Hey luv, I see another lovely name, your grandmother, Luella May!! it sounds so pretty. I think real soon all my lovelies at home will be named after your family members, first Viola and now Luella May, what next?

Can't think of any right off. btw, Luella always went by her middle name, May. Don't know why. Luella was much prettier.

Agree totally with wonderful Duchess of Tea above - we all have wordless days! And also what a pretty name Luella is!
Hoping you're having a terrific week,

LOL LOLA & Nora:)
PS Have you heard Magical Mme Moonspinner got herself kidnapped by Johnny Depp over at my place and we're looking for suggestions from blogpals how to rescue her?!! *wink*

I bet the lady on the bottom right (your great-grandmother?) brooked no nonsense! Love these old photos, very evocative.

Yes, the lady on the bottom right was my great-grandmother, and at this point was a no-nonsense kinda gal. Judging by a packet of letters I cherish, she loosened up considerably after the entire family (except the girl in the bow) moved to northern Calif a few years later.

Your grandmother has such a sweet and shy look to her!

Family tradition says it was that sweet, shyness that made my grandfather notice her in the first place. ;D
