Nuns Wear Hose and Heels??

Well, of course they don't, silly! They're nuns!

But you can't help but appreciate the imagination that went into those
bar stools, and (unless it was staged) the luck of the photographer.

(This photo came to me in an email, so my
sincere apologies for not properly attributing it.)

Have a great day!

I've seen this before and it makes me laugh every time I see it. I wish I knew if the nuns were in on the joke or were unsuspecting models.

While shopping recently I saw a nun dressed in a habit. I have to admit I had a hard time not staring at her. It took me back to high school and my early days teaching in a Catholic school with the nuns.

The heels they wore were anything but stylish, and black hose were not fashionable in the 50s and 60s.

Great picture!

Nancy, I'm equally torn between the photog being in just the right place at the right time, and it's a set up. I know the photo has been around awhile, but it makes me laugh too every time I see it too, so I *had* to share!

palib, on hot days I can see why nuns don't miss the old full-length habit, but I've never quite gotten used to what amounts to a business suit and the briefer head covering. And then there are the orders which allow nuns to wear regular street clothes in public. How is one supposed to know they're nuns without some version of a habit?? ;D

Interesting point, JamaGenie - my aunt (almost age 81) is a nun and has been for 62 years now. I remember her in the long habit with the wimple back in the 60s. By the time I was in high school in the early 70s, they were wearing shorter outfits, but always with a veil. Even after they could start wearing pretty much any street clothes, my aunt wore a veil in public - only quit doing that in the last few years.
