Thanks, Jean! Aren't they precious? Whoever did the airbrushing on the original was a genius, making them look like two angels. I'm guessing this was the photo their mother Emma sent with that year's Christmas cards.

OMG I locw Dovie's curls and I love the fact that a girl named Dove Ethel got called " Dovie"--lovely:-)

Not sure where "Ethel" came from. Originally assumed "Dove E." stood for Dove EMMA. Silly me!

On the subject of "silly", how cool is it that both children were named for birds? Think Emma was being fanciful when she put the "Y" in Robyn, but this turned out to be a good thing because a Cupp cousin born a few years later was also a Robin, with an "i".
