Hazel Dawn as The Century Girl

Hazel Dawn ~ The Century Girl
descending the Celestial Staircase in the
Dillingham - Ziegfeld extravaganza,
The Century Girl 1916-1917,
which opened 6 Nov 1916 at the
refurbished Century Theatre.

Our own Muriel Window from Burlingame KS
is listed in the 5th Nov newspaper ad announcing
the opening. (Note the best seats went for $1!)

"Little Muriel" was also pictured on page 6 of the opening
night program, but didn't survive cuts made to shorten
the 5-hour-long show after the second performance.
(Marie Dressler also didn't survive the cut.)

All images are from Historical Ziegfeld.

Wishing you and yours a safe and happy 4th!

Can't be coincidence that I came across Hazel Dawn's costume just in time for the 4th while researching Muriel's years in vaudeville...
