But in honor of Memorial Day, I used a background called "Proud To Be An American". In case you missed it, here's what it looked like, and hope your Memorial Day weekend was a safe and happy one.

It's not a stupid question at all. Memorial *Day* was originally May 30th, to remember fallen soldiers and other deceased loved ones by placing flowers and wreaths on their graves. Many cemeteries have a ceremony at the military monument, and towns have parades down Main Street that include bands and veterans groups marching.
At some point the date was changed to the last Monday in May, so that it became a 3-day holiday weekend and the symbolic start of summer. Many families gather at lakes to camp out, swim and water ski.
